There is a code by which our nation's flag should be flownhonorably and respectfully. After all, it is representative of a living country!

It should. . .

be the highest on a pole, at the top when several flags are flown from the same pole.

always be displayed with the blue union field up, NEVER displayed upside down (except as a distress signal).

be handled very carefully with attention to it not touching the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

always kept aloft and freenever carried flat or horizontally.

always kept clean and safe never letting it become torn, soiled or damaged.

always disposed of properly, preferably by burning it.

Always treat the American Flag with respect!

The American Flag and Navy Flag are flying honorably at the grave site of my dad.
He served in the Navy and was on active duty during World War II at Iwo Jima.

Not only at the grave site but flags are also flying at our home. The American Flag in honor of our nation and the Navy Flag in honor of my husband, a Navy veteran.

Is the American Flag waving honorably at your home and/or other military flags waving in memory of a veteran or active soldier?
